Occasionally you may run into errors during remote operations. If this happens, follow the guidance provided below to resolve.

Arm Out of Position

The drone's arms may not be fully extended or locked in place.

Land and verify that the drone's arms are fully extended, the arm stops are undamaged, there are no loose screws in the arm braces, and the arm braces are locked.

Backtrack Return Unavailable

Your drone has encountered a critical error. Selected return type (backtrack) is unavailable.

Please adjust return settings or land immediately. Select "Up and Over" as your return type, then select the "Return" button to return to dock or "Land now" to land in place.

Battery Cold

The battery is too cold to fly.

Warm batteries in a room-temperature environment or use body heat - DO NOT use higher heat (hairdryer, etc.) to accelerate heating. If you have an X10, the battery will automatically begin self-warming and launch will become unblocked when the battery is sufficiently warmed for the given state of charge.

Battery Error

The battery is not communicating with the drone.

Reboot your drone. If that does not resolve the issue, perform a battery reset.

Battery Range Warning

The drone's range will soon exceed the battery's capacity to return.

Take immediate steps to return to dock.

Camera Failure

Your drone can not track or record.

Land and reboot the drone.

Close Obstacle Avoidance

Your drone is in "Close" obstacle avoidance mode.

Flight speed is automatically reduced. Fly with caution.

Commandeering Drone

This notification appears when taking control and becoming the active pilot of a drone.

Be prepared to pilot the drone. Note that some “Flight Controls” settings might change due to commandeering from another pilot.

Component Failed

The system is in an off-nominal state and must be rebooted.

Reboot your drone.

Connection to Aircraft Lost

Command and control connection to the drone is lost.

The drone will hover in place for the user-specified connection timeout period, then autonomously return to dock (or launch point if X10). Pilot may take over if connection is regained.

Connection Regained

Connection to the drone has regained.

Critical Flight Error

Your drone has encountered an error.

Take immediate steps to return to dock or land in place.

Degraded Logging SD Card

The logging SD card in the drone is degraded.

Remove and replace your logging SD card in the drone to prevent corrupted logs.

Digital Zoom Unavailable

Digital zoom is not supported in this video mode

Dirty Cameras

The drone navigation cameras are dirty and may negatively impact obstacle avoidance and visual navigation.

Take immediate steps to return, land, and clean your drone's cameras.

Drone Battery Low

The battery is too low to fly. Launch is prevented.

Charge your drone's battery.

Drone GPS Inoperative

GPS system is inoperative.

Reboot your drone.

Drone Inspection Mode

The dock camera is currently in drone inspection mode, preventing launch.

Switch to the drone camera feed to prepare for launch.

Drone Lost Connection to Dock

Verify that the dock has internet connectivity and your drone is within range.

Emergency Landing

The drone is initiating an emergency landing and obstacle avoidance is disabled

Use your keyboard or controller to take over and land manually.

Geofence Requires Good GPS

The geofence is active but it is impossible to determine if the drone is inside of the geofence or not due to poor GPS.

Exit and reneter Remote Flight Deck to re-attempt GPS initialization, or remove the geofence.

Getting Dark

Available light is not optimal for obstacle avoidance.

Move to a brighter environment, enable Twilight/Low Light mode (if X2 or X10), or land. Enable NightSense (X10) to continue flying with obstacle avoidance.

Gimbal Obstructed

Tracking is disabled. The drone may not be able to lock onto and land in the dock.

Manually land outside the dock and remove the gimbal obstruction.

GPS Available

The drone does not yet have GPS.

Fly left and right to reacquire heading.

GPS Initialization Unsuccessful

The drone was unable to automatically initialize the GPS heading.

Manually fly laterally to acquire a GPS lock.

The drone is too hot and is landing autonoumously.

Wait for the drone to land, physically recover it, place it in a cool area to cool down, then replace it in the dock. You may nudge the drone while landing to ensure it lands in a safe location.

Landing - Looking for a flat landing surface.

The drone is "smart". landing due to a system fault. The drone will look for a flat place and land autonomously. This landing cannot be canceled.

Physically retreive the drone after landing and replace it back in the dock.

Landing - Drone's battery is critically low.

The drone battery has reached a critically low level and is automatically landing.

The drone will land autonomously. Wait for the drone to land, then replace it into the dock.

Lost Livestream Connection

The live stream connection was lost.

Check drone and dock connection, and verify that the dock is connected to the internet.

Low Battery

The drone battery is low.

Take immediate steps to return to dock.

Media SD Full

The media SD card is full.

Allow media to be uploaded and then delete by toggling ON “Delete files from the vehicle's SD card after upload” in Media Upload settings.

Note: This may take time depending on the amount of data and network connection speeds.

Media SD Card is Slow

Your SD card is too slow to record at this setting.

Replace SD card or switch to lower resolution images/video

Your drone is blocked by an obstruction.

Take manual control of the drone and pilot around any onbstacles blocking the return path, then reinitiate the return.

Unsafe Launch Space

An obstacle is sensed directly in the launch path.

Remove the obstacle to allow flight.

USB-C in Use

USB-C plugged into vehicle port

Disconnect the USB-C cable from the vehicle port to allow flight.

Very High Winds

Flight performance may be affected.

Move to a less windy area or land.

Viewing Live Stream

Vision Degraded

Your drone can not see well enough to fly safely.

Move to an environment with more visible texture (away from large glassy surfaces, high altitudes, etc).

There is an issue with the battery and flight time is greatly reduced.

Take immediate steps to land the drone. If you select the "Land now" button, you will then need to physically retrieve the drone and replace it in the dock.

This notification appears when taking control and becoming the active pilot of a drone.

Vehicle/System Fault Codes

You may experience a vehicle/system fault, denoted by the letter “V” and followed by a fault number. These faults may not have a title or description.

If you encounter a vehicle fault:

  • Wait 10 seconds or so and then reboot the drone (remotely from Skydio Cloud)
  • If that doesn't work, then reboot the dock (remotely from Skydio Cloud)
  • If that doesn't work, take note of the error code and contact Skydio Support

While not very common, below is a list of the most frequently occurring vehicle faults:

17 Subject camera is unreliable; the subject camera is not publishing images at the expected frequency
19 A process necessary for flight is stopped. Flight deck logs may be required to determine which process
21 The vehicle isn't level enough to launch
30 Missing Images; the navigation cameras are not publishing all of their images
34 Navigation cameras unreliable; images from the navigation cameras are not coming in at the necessary frequency
38 Hand launch is obstructed
39 The central processing unit (CPU) frequency is not meeting expectations
66 Drone central processing unit (CPU) is too high
71 Preflight tasks required; there is a task that the system has to run through prior to launch
87 VIO or GPS is degraded, negatively affecting the drone's state estimation
89 Gimbal obstructed; the camera gimbal is having a hard time and thinks the sensor package lock (gimbal clip) might still be on
96 The drone thinks it's obstructed or stuck somewhere (e.g. ceiling perch, someone grabbed the vehicle)
99 There is an issue with the auto-exposure of the navigation cameras
115 The battery remaining capacity suddenly drops to 0
135 The drone GPS quality is insufficient
142 Indicates a fault that causes landing, which cannot be cancelled
144 The drone is switching camera modes
212 The drone did not successfully make contact with the dock
243 There is a communcation issue with the camera gimbal microcontroller unit (MCU)
246 Gimbal estimator needs initializer; unable to publish gimbal health state
247 Gimbal estimator insufficient time; unable to publish gimbal health state
