Unlike solid ground, visual navigation is less reliable over water because of its changing geometry and texture.
Your R1 should not be flown over bodies of water more than 30ft across. Flying over large bodies of water introduces circumstances that could result in damage or loss of your R1. For instance, if your R1 runs out of battery and has to make an emergency landing, you don’t want to touch down in the middle of a lake!
You may find that you are using your R1 to capture experiences which are near bodies of water, like at the beach, or near a river, etc. - these types of activities are perfectly ok, provided your R1 can see clearly and it’s not too windy. We’ve even successfully tested the R1 following kayaks down narrow river rapids. Just use caution and common sense guidelines when flying near the water.
