Overview

Skydio 2 can resume scans across multiple battery changes without reliance on GPS. Using vision navigation, the drone is able to automatically resume scanning after changing batteries.

Skydio recommends flying scans that require no more than 4 batteries. The Review Scan Settings menu includes a scan summary that includes the total scan time and estimated number of batteries. If the total number of batteries is greater than 4, consider adjusting your settings or split the volume into separate scans.

Do not remove or swap out the memory cards (logs and media) between flights of the same scan.

Low battery procedure

When the battery charge level reaches 18-25% (or 3 minutes of flight time) remaining, your Skydio 2 will follow the low battery procedure and return to the Rally Point. You will have the option to:

    • Land Now or
    • Take Control to reposition Skydio 2 for landing

Do not remove the battery or power off while Skydio 2 completes post-flight processing. Powering off prematurely will result in errors.

    • A notification will display stating that a scan is in progress.
    • Select Save—this ensures the scan can be resumed after the battery swap is complete.

Wait for the drone to process the scan and complete post-flight tasks.

Do not remove the battery or power off while Skydio 2 completes post-flight processing. Powering off prematurely will result in errors and potential loss of data.

Resuming your scan

To resume a scan after replacing the battery, the drone must take off from the exact same position and orientation between each flight. Taking off in a different location or orientation will result in errors. Skydio recommends a case launch.
