Skydio has identified a potential risk of erratic vehicle behavior in Skydio X10D drones flying on software version 39.204. This flight system update was released on Thursday, April 24. Risk arises when GPS is manually disabled during preflight or operation, and the GPS connection is re-enabled in-flight. In rare cases, the vehicle’s internal heading may be incorrectly estimated upon reacquiring GPS, leading the vehicle to exhibit erratic or unpredictable behavior. Loss and reacquisition of GPS signals leading to this issue may also occur if the vehicle is operated in environments with a high risk of GPS signal degradation, such as structurally dense areas.

There are no known losses of the vehicle due to this issue; however, there is a risk of loss of the vehicle if the remote pilot is unable to regain operational control. Out of an abundance of caution, it is recommended that pilots avoid operations in environments with known GPS occlusion, including urban canyons, indoors, and under bridges. In GPS-jammed environments, it is recommended that pilots disable GPS for the duration of the flight. Skydio will deploy a fix soon and will communicate this flight system update as soon as it becomes available.
