Skydio Controller 2: v46.111.65 - 16 September 2026

Skydio Controller 2 supports Bring Your Own Plan (BYOP) cellular. Organizations that require a carrier other than the pre-installed SIM can install their own nano SIM card.

Controller 2 supports one SIM card at a time. For the SIM card replacement procedure, see Skydio X10 Bring Your Own Cellular Plan.

[note]Skydio is still working to certify cellular carriers. Skydio recommends T-Mobile for best performance.[/note]

Bluetooth devices can be paired to Skydio Controller 2 from Quick Settings, or from Device Settings → Connected devices.

A paired Bluetooth headset can be used for Controller audio on X10, and two-way audio on R10.

Pilots can cast the controller screen to a wireless display. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings, select Screen Cast, and select an available display.

When more than one controller is in use, the casting Controller's serial number for is shown on the display.

L1 and R1 respond to two levels of pressure. L1 Half Press and R1 Half Press can each be assigned their own function, separately from the full press. Existing functions can be assigned to a half press as well as the new ones below, including Quick Gimbal Pitch and Quick Yaw.

The following functions are new and can be assigned to a Controller input:

Select Subject and Toggle Track/Follow are available with Skydio X10 only.

Assign functions from Global Settings → Flight Controls → Controls, under Input Mapping.

Default assignments have been updated and differ between Skydio X10 and R10, because the two drones support different functions. Verify the assigned inputs after switching between drones.

[note] Input assignments are shared by every operator of a Controller and are not stored per user account. An assignment made by one operator remains in effect when a different operator signs in. Verify the assigned inputs before flight, especially on a Controller that is shared.[/note]

Controller, drone, and drone attachment updates are delivered over the air and installed from one place. The Updates app groups them by flight system and shows the current and available version for each item, so a drone, its Controller, and its attachments are updated together.

When an update is available, a system notification appears. Select the notification to open the Updates app, or go to Global Settings → System & Updates → Controller Updates, and select Update Now.

If no drone is connected, the Controller updates on its own.

Skydio Controller 2 is localized in Japanese. Japanese can be selected during initial setup, in Device Settings, and in Skydio Flight Deck.

For organizations in Canada, cellular connectivity on Skydio Controller 2 is disabled. Skydio Connect SL remains available.

The Wi-Fi pre-shared key exchanged between the drone and the Controller during wired pairing is encrypted rather than sent in plain text. Pilots do not need to change how they pair — the pairing steps are the same as in previous releases.

• Resolved an issue where flight logs and stream recordings were not removed from the Controller unless logs were uploaded, which could fill Controller storage

The following known issues exist in this release:

• Altitude control while using Scout — Before flying with Scout, open the SIM card port cover on the bottom of the controller. If the SIM cover is not open, pilots may experience the drone climb or descend more than commanded.

[caution] Operating the Controller with a port cover open reduces its IP55 ingress protection rating. Close the cover and seat it fully when Scout is not in use, and before exposure to weather.[/caution]

• Wireless casting and screen recording — These cannot be used at the same time. Turning on one also turns on the other in Quick Settings, and turning off one turns off both.
