Step 5 - Add your FAA registration number to your drone

Your Skydio drone must be physically marked with the FAA Registration Number.

The FAA has provided guidance on how to properly do this at this link. The number must be:

    • legible at all times
    • affixed to the drone by any means necessary to ensure that it will remain affixed for the duration of each operation
    • legibly displayed on an external surface of the drone

[note] If the drone leaves your possession, for example you sell the drone or it is sent to Skydio for repair, you should remove the FAA registration label and cancel the registration. [/note]

Step 6 - Enure your drone is labeled as FAA Standard Remote ID Compliant

  • Skydio X10 drones are Remote ID compliant.
  • Skydio drones produced on or after September 16, 2022 are already labeled as Remote ID Compliant (located inside the battery tray of the drone).
  • Skydio drones produced before September 16, 2022 require an additional Remote ID label which you will print out an affix to your drone. Visit How to enable Remote ID for your Skydio drone for step-by-step instructions.

How to Update your Registration with Remote ID Information

If you’ve previously registered a drone that did not have Remote ID enabled at the time of registration, but is now enabled with Remote ID, you will need to either edit your existing registration or add a new device and cancel the old registration.

[note] Older registrations will not allow you to make edits or updates. If you need to update the information - such as adding Remote ID information - you must add a new device registration and then cancel the old registration. You will need to pay the fee for any new registrations. Newer registrations allow you to edit information. [/note]

Edit existing registration

Step 1 - Log in or Create an account at FAA DroneZone
