Terrain data regions are now available in the Skydio ISR Manager for download and loading onto the drone media SD card. The X10D will automatically ingest the terrain data it needs from the continent-scale DTED dataset stored on the media SD card. As it plans and executes missions, the aircraft checks its current position and route, loads the relevant DTED tiles, and maintains a rolling cache of nearby terrain.
X10D automatically imports DTED data within a 10 km radius of the launch site. This provides sufficient terrain coverage for flights up to 10 km without requiring operators to manually manage terrain files. It also helps prevent storage limitations or DTED coverage gaps during a mission.
[note]Terrain Data Regions downloaded prior to July 16, 2026, contain malformed DTED tiles for latitudes above 50° North and below 50° South (DTED Zones 2-5). Tiles within this latitude range (DTED Zone 1) are correct and can continue to be used, if desired. Skydio recommends replacing previously downloaded tile sets as soon as practical.
Malformed tiles will be both:
Sourced from a Terrain Data Region downloaded with a v2 suffix: ex. americas_dted2_v2.zip
Begin with s0–50 or n0-49: ex. n50w066.dt2.gz[/note]
Download Terrain Data:
Required:
Computer with Internet
The Media SD card from your X10D vehicle
USB-C SD card reader inserted into your computer
[note]Ensure that your drone and controller are the current Calyley Tactical software release v43.152.32.[/note]
Step 4 - Download the operational map region for your area
Step 5 - Unzip the compressed folder
The regional terrain data will download in a zipped file
Download the ZIP file for each terrain data region you need. Expand the downloaded ZIP file, then copy the folder it creates into the DTED folder on the vehicle Media SD Card. You can keep multiple region folders inside the DTED folder to organize your terrain data.
Do not unzip the individual files
Step 6 - Create a new folder and title it DTED
Add the downloaded file to the DTED folder on the SD card
Step 7 - Remove the SD card reader from your computer
Step 8 - Insert the media card back into your X10D vehicle
Step 9 - Power on the drone and controller
Step 10 - Select Fly Now > Map menu > DTED tab
The DTED information lives on the media SD card, and the aircraft uses what it needs depending on the area you are flying.
