Update Features
This release improves situational awareness, reduces in-flight friction, and brings powerful desktop-level capabilities directly to the controller—enabling faster response, better compliance, and a more unified pilot experience.
- Incident Markers on X10 Controllers – View active incident locations from CAD integrations directly on the controller map. Markers automatically populate (up to one hour old, 200 max) and can be hidden through the Layers menu for a cleaner view.
- Import and View Custom Map Layers – Upload KML, KMZ, GeoJSON, GeoTIFF, GeoPDF, or MBTiles files directly to the controller. These visual overlays support public safety, inspection, and utility missions by displaying boundaries, asset locations, and restricted areas.
- Updated Quick Actions & Settings Shortcuts – A consistent new layout simplifies in-flight controls for Obstacle Avoidance, Thermal Tools, and Skylens (Augmented Reality). Each now includes direct gear-icon shortcuts to their respective settings for faster adjustments.
- Centralized Sound Settings – All audio controls are now in a single Sound menu, allowing quick adjustments for controller, drone, notifications, and shutter sounds.

[note] This update will be released gradually over the next few weeks. Do not update your system while the drone is in flight. [/note]
Non-Dock Systems
1. Update the X10 Controller
2. Update Skydio X10
3. Follow your organization’s maintenance log update procedure

Incident Markers on X10 Controllers (Beta)
Incident Markers from CAD integrations are now available on the X0 Controller, making it easier to see and respond to key locations during a response. This update brings the same critical awareness that Remote Flight Deck (RFD) pilots rely on today directly to the controller, helping you stay aligned with the latest information while flying.
- Incident Markers - View the most recent active incidents from CAD integrations directly on your map, so you always know where to respond (up to one hour old, maximum of 200 markers)
- Simplified workflow - Markers appear automatically on the map, with the option to hide all of them via the Map Layers menu
- Allows you to view and update marker status
Import and View Custom Map Layers (Early Access Program)
You can now upload and view KML, KMZ, MBTiles, GeoJSON, GeoTIFF, or GeoPDF files directly on the controller map. Turn layers on or off at any time, even during flight, to improve situational awareness and stay aligned with operational requirements.
- Public safety - Import published wildfire boundary files from federal, state, or local agencies (such as federal fire maps in California or Colorado) to ensure safe operations in restricted areas
- Utilities and inspection - Highlight poles, assets, or defined zones to stay within designated boundaries and streamline inspections
- General awareness - Add custom overlays to avoid sensitive areas or keep flight operations aligned with mission objectives
- Map layers are visual only and do not affect flight paths or mission logic
[note] Custom Map Layers is currently an Early Access Program (EAP). If you would like access to this feature, please reach out to Skydio Support or your Skydio account manager for setup assistance. [/note]
Updated Quick Action Menus and Settings Shortcuts
We’ve refreshed several areas of the X10 Controller interface to make Quick Actions more consistent and easier to use:
- Obstacle Avoidance - The Quick Action menu now includes simplified controls for turning Obstacle Avoidance ON or OFF and selecting a range (Standard, Close, or Minimal). A new gear icon provides a shortcut to the full Obstacle Avoidance settings in the Sensing menu.
- Thermal Tools - The Thermal quick action menu has been updated, with a gear icon that takes you directly to the Tools tab of the Thermal Camera settings.
- Skylens (Augmented Reality) - Skylens is now a single ON or OFF toggle (previous distance options have been removed). To streamline setup, Skylens settings have been moved under a new Augmented Reality section in Display settings, where you can adjust box styles and toggle the feature on or off.
Centralized X10 Controller Sound Settings
Sound controls have been streamlined into one place, giving you easier control over all audio settings on the controller. Sound controls are consolidated into a single Sound menu within Global Settings.
From here, you can adjust:
- Controller speaker volume
- Drone speaker volume
- Notification volume
- Camera shutter sounds
