Overview

Remote pilots can capture a short video clip (or “snapshot”) of what the drone is seeing during flight without stopping recording or interrupting operations.

  • The pilot presses K or creates a marker from the Incidents map to capture the video clip.

  • The system captures visual data as a five second clip: four seconds before and 1 second after the pilot initiates the capture.

  • The pilot can immediately review the captured video in the Incidents tab on Remote Flight Deck (RFD) while continuing operations.

  • Video is stored in Skydio Cloud (MP4 format) and can be accessed from the Media tab. It is treated like any other video for normal workflows like evidence management.

Capturing an In-Flight Video Clip

[note]The drone must be in-flight to capture video clips.[/note]

To capture in-flight video, Press K or right-click on the map and select Create Marker.

  • A new marker is added to the map located at the drone’s center focus point.

  • The video appears in the Incidents tab as a short clip.

Capturing In-Flight Video of Tracked Subjects

Skydio Shadow Track and Follow must be turned on to use subject tracking. https://support.skydio.com/hc/en-us/articles/45768944808347-How-to-use-Skydio-Shadow-Subject-Track-and-Follow

To capture video during subject tracking:

  1. Mouse over the intended subject to track.

  2. Press K to take a snapshot.

  3. Continue to track the subject and press K to capture multiple video clips. Each is created as a marker on the map and uploaded as a five-second video to Skydio Cloud.

Troubleshooting

Avoid excessive use of video capture over a short period of time as it may result in undesirable video quality.
