The Skydio R1 app gives you the ability to wirelessly edit and create ready-to-share clips of your flights right from your phone.
To create a clip within the Skydio app:
- Ensure that your R1 is powered on and your mobile device is connected to it via WiFi.
- Anytime after your flight, go to the Videos tab and select the flight you wish to create a clip for.
- The full flight is presented in a preview window in the top half of the screen, along with some basic flight statistics. The lower half of the screen can be scrolled left or right to scrub through the flight to select a start and end point for your edited clip.
- To select the start point, scroll to find the right timing, then tap the [start] icon. The same thing applies for the endpoint - just scroll to position the playhead, then tap the [end] icon.
- Once you’ve chosen your start and end times, tap on Create Clip. Your R1 and the Skydio app will process the clip and save it to your camera roll. You can share the exported clip just like you would any other video or photo on your phone.
Notes:
- Try exporting using Clip Effects like Stabilize or Stablize+Zoom!
- When previewing your flights, you can view them in either portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal) modes on your device.
- You can also capture stills from your flights by tapping the camera icon in the lower right corner of the preview at any time.
- Clips within the Skydio app are created at a maximum resolution of 1080p (even if the original video file on your R1 is in 4K). Clip creation downsamples the footage to make it easier to share via mobile. To access your full 4K video files, see our article How do I access and manage my R1 footage?.
Managing your media
Your R1 has 64GB of available internal storage for recording video. That provides about 1.5 hours of 4K recording, and the Skydio app will alert you if you’re getting low on space. See our article How do I access and manage my R1 footage? for more details.
