Skydio Dock Safety Guidelines

Ensure that Skydio Dock launch/land zone is defined and clear. Mark the zone around the Dock 10 feet (3 meters) above and in front and 3 feet (1 meter) on both sides so that people and vehicles do not interfere with launch and landing.

Safety

    • Inspect the bay door for damage or obstructions
    • Ensure that the pedestal and arm are securely mounted and free of debris
    • Ensure that the camera lenses are dust and smudge-free prior to inserting the drone
    • Inspect the battery magnets and connections for damage and debris prior to inserting the drone
    • Inspect the drone chassis and propeller blades for nicks, cracks, or other visible damage prior to inserting the drone
    • Secure the power and Ethernet cables to avoid tripping or snagging hazard
    • Keep fingers away from the bay door and arm as it is opening/closing
    • Keep fingers away from the propeller blades
    • Two (2) people are required to lift, mount and/or move the Dock and base
    • Do not use the bay door, access panel, or arm to move or lift the Dock
    • Fly cautiously around people, objects in motion, moving vehicles, or other drones
    • The remote pilot in command (RPIC) is responsible for managing altitude, range, and battery level and monitoring alerts

Electrical

    • Ensure that the electrical circuit supplying the Dock is properly grounded and the circuit breaker- is protected with a minimum capacity of 8 amps continuously available
    • Do not alter or detach Skydio Dock internal wiring or other electrical connections
    • Disconnect the dock from power before conducting any maintenance or moving
    • Service must be performed by a Skydio technician

Hardware

    • Ensure that the Dock is level
    • Ensure that there is at least 1 meter of space on the left and right sides of the Dock
    • Ensure that there are at least 3 meters of space in front of and above the Dock
    • Ensure that the Dock is installed in a dry location
    • Ensure pooled water will not pose a slipping or electrical hazard to personnel. Under certain conditions, condensation from the Dock might drain onto the floor or ground

Environment

    • Ensure the flight environment is adequately illuminated and has good visibility
    • Avoid flight in low-light conditions and areas where the transition between the light and shadow is abrupt and sharp
    • Maintain operational temperatures to enable battery charging:

               Skydio X2 14°F (-10°C) to 109°F (43°C)

               Skydio 2/2+ 23°F (-5°C) to 104°F (40°C)

    • Do not fly in precipitation, fog, or snow
    • Install Dock in an area sheltered from the wind
    • Ensure Dock will be protected from interference by wildlife
    • Do not fly around objects less than 0.5 in (1.27 cm) in diameter, such as wires, cables, guidelines, ropes, netting
    • Avoid flight in areas with transparent or reflective surfaces, such as windows or mirrors greater than 60 in (1.5 m) square
    • Consider obstacle avoidance settings when flying through narrow spaces

Regulations

    • Follow all civil aviation, such as the FAA or your country’s regulatory agency, rules and regulations
    • You are responsible for your Skydio drone at all times
    • Do not fly in an environment where the use of the device is restricted or not authorized
