  • Fly your drone over a direct WiFi link to the controller
  • Fly any drone on your 5G Network using a web browser
  • NEW: Fly any drone on your 5G Network with the Skydio X10 Controller
  • NEW: Fly your drone over a direct WiFi link while also connecting your controller to 5G for live streaming and access to maps in real-time

[note] Flight over 5G Cellular is only available if you’ve purchased an X10 system with Skydio Connect 5G and subscription to Skydio Remote Flight Deck with Skydio Connect 5G. [/note]

For instructions on how to set up and fly Skydio X10 over 5G Cellular, visit: How to fly Skydio X10 over cellular connectivity.

  • Navigate to Thermal > Parameters
  • Adjust the values for Emissivity, Humidity, and Distance
  • Emissivity was previously located under Settings, but is now under Parameters

For more information about Thermal Camera parameters, visit: How to use to adjust your Skydio X10 thermal settings.

ATAK Now Available

The Skydio X10 Controller is now integrated with the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) app, allowing you to seamlessly monitor your Skydio fleet. ATAK provides geospatial information about your drones and controllers for increased situational awareness in the field.

Visit How to set up ATAK with the Skydio X10 Controller for information about how to set up ATAK.

[note] When Live Streaming using RTSP, do not change your Capture mode (i.e. do not switch between Photo and Video) and related capture settings. This could pause or stop the stream for RTSP downstream clients. [/note]

Improved Overheating Behavior for X10 Controller

New thresholds and protocols have been implemented to notify the operator and prevent flight (or recommend landing) when the Skydio X10 Controller reaches extremely hot temperatures.

X10_Fast_Follow_Controller_Overheating.png

Previously, if the controller became too hot, it would still allow the drone to launch. If the controller then overheated in flight, it would shut down and lose connection to the drone, triggering the X10 Lost Connection behavior.

To mitigate overheating and reduce the risk of lost connection during flight, we’ve implemented the following protocols:

X10 Controller Temperature Behavior
≥ 107°F (42°C) “Controller Overheating” notification appears on screen. The controller screen will dim to protect itself and the user is recommended to move to a cooler location or shade the screen from the sun to continue operation.
≥ 113°F (45°C) “Controller Temperature Critical” notification appears on screen. User is warned that the controller is too hot and will shut down if not cooled immediately. If the drone is grounded, launch is prevented.
≥ 122°F (50°C) “Controller Shutdown Imminent” notification appears on screen. The controller will then shut down. If the drone is grounded, launch is prevented. If the drone is in flight and the controller shuts down, this will result in lost connection.

FIXES and SMALL UPDATES

  • MGRS and UTM map coordinate systems are now available for all X10 users
  • New Reset option in the Controls Sensitivity menu to reset sensitivity settings to factory defaults
  • Selecting Reset in the Controls menu now rests all settings in the Controls menu to factory defaults
  • Focus options have been removed when viewing the thermal camera display, as this display does not support on-screen focus capabilities
  • Fix for intermittent controller software crashes

Skydio X10 software version

31.1.140

Skydio X10 Controller version

31.1.150

What's in this release

  • Fix for calibration issue affecting GPS Only flight behavior

[note] This hotfix applies only to the vehicle, not the X10 Controller. However, the Skydio X10 Controller must be running version 31.1.150 before the vehicle is updated, otherwise the vehicle hotfix update will fail at Step 2. Controllers running versions prior to 31.1.150 must be updated before initiating the vehicle hotfix update. Step-by-step instructions for updating the Skydio X10 system may be found here. [/note]
